The Main Street Cynthiana Public Library is completely automated and opened in June 1990.  It has 9,600 square feet of space and has a book display area.  The facility is handicapped accessible with barrier-free access for seniors, parents with strollers and others. There is no charge parking available both on Main Street and in the parking lot off Pleasant Street.

Genealogy

The Christine Burgan Kentucky Room contains works by and about Kentucky authors and historical figures.  It houses information about local history and genealogy as well as the  library’s Civil War Collection, a nationally recognized special collection.  Also housed are microfilm readers used to review information on births, deaths, marriages, taxes, wills, funeral homes and newspaper records for Harrison County and surrounding counties from their formation to the present

SERVICES PROVIDED

The Charles Feix Community Room, located on Pleasant Street next to Biancke’s Restaurant, is available for meetings and classes.  Also available are: Two story-hour programs for preschoolers; summer reading programs for all ages; inter-library loan services through the Kentucky Library Network; reference services; 30 computers for public use; wireless internet access; monthly programs and a teen advisory group. A Bookmobile is also supported.
